Second Australian battery to be built for Victoria

Renewable energy projects for Australia

Following the large success of the 100MW lithium-ion battery in South Australia. Tesla have been selected to begin another battery storage project, this time in Victoria at Bulgana Green Power Hub. The 20- megawatt Lithium-ion Battery project will be funded by Nectar Farms. The power pack will be used to support the 204-megawatt wind farm being developed by a French energy company Neoen. The project is anticipated to be completed within 18 months and will primarily provide energy to Nectar Farm’s. However, it may support the national electricity grid in the future.

South Austalia is already experiecing benefits of the Tesla battery.

With South Australia already experiencing the benefits of the Tesla battery keeping their electrical grid stabilised, it’s no surprise to see another in the pipeline so soon. The lithium-ion battery responded quickly back in December when a coal fired power plant tripped due to technical issues, the world’s largest battery delivered 100MW into the electricity grid in an impressive 14 seconds.

With power prices so high, infrastructure that will stabilise our national electricity grid is a welcome change, in hope’s it will reduce our electricity costs and peak power outages.

Tesla is chosen to build another big battery in Australia after the first one proves impressive.

Confused? You’re not alone. Fortunately we can help you navigate the benefits relating to the Tesla battery and all types of energy.
