Rule Change for Embedded Networks

Important Electricity Regulation Change

WHY THE CHANGE AND WHAT IS THE POWER OF CHOICE?

On 21 May 2015, the Australian Energy Market Commission (AEMC) began consultation on a rule change request from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) on the regulatory arrangements for Embedded Networks. AEMO has announced that as of December 1, 2017, customers within an Embedded Network will have The Power of Choice. Enabling them to take control of their energy, they may choose to stay apart of the network or may leave the network and obtain their own retail contract.

WHAT IS AN EMBEDDED NETWORK MANAGER?

An Embedded Network Manager is appointed to overview the network, maintain embedded network metering information regarding, the meter types and configuration of metering installations at the parent connection point and all child connection points on the Embedded Network, and assist with on-market requests. When a customer chooses to obtain their own retailer contract and leaves the embedded network, the ENM will process this request and handle the changeover.

WHO DOES THE CHANGE APPLY TO AND WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Changes to the National Electricity Rules apply to all Embedded Network Operators, it is mandatory that Embedded Networks with 30 or more customers appoint an Embedded Network Manager by December 1. Any new Embedded networks after December 1, must appoint an ENM immediately on the network commencing operation. Embedded Networks with less than 30 customers will only need to appoint an ENM if a customer wishes to obtain their own retail contract/go on-market.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

Humenergy has begun the process to become an accredited Embedded Network Manager. The commencement of seeking registration and accreditation as an ENM is just another part of our innovative services platform, to give our customers a transparent and beneficial end to end service. We are currently working closely with AEMO to ensure we are meeting the expected guidelines, are implementing the necessary systems and correct processes to provide an effective management service and meet requirements expected of an Embedded Network Manager.

THE BENEFITS OF Embedded networks:

Humenergy powers better BCC/Strata communities through smart, tailored embedded network systems that will immediately lower energy usage. Our clean ENM solutions help drive significant savings through reduced reliance on the grid with the use of your own clean, reliable energy source.
